General Manager (Global Business)

The General Manager of Global Business will be responsible for the overall performance of each of the business territories of BLR. Currently these are the UK, UAE, Qatar, KSA with openings in Japan, France and Australia scheduled for late 2023. Monitoring all aspects of business performance of each office and reporting to the Senior Executive Team (SET). A broad understanding of leading and managing new and existing business will be essential including business development, marketing and communications, finance and legislation, operations and administration. Additional opportunities will be available to oversee the successful delivery of multiple live projects to set budgets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the SET weekly and compiling monthly reports on business performance across all territories.

  • Be reliable source of information for SET to allow strategic management of BLR-Global assets

  • Line Management and direction of all country managers

  • Overseeing cash across the business to show financial position by territory as required

  • Assist SET with forecasting of all aspects of day-to-day territory operations, including marketing, business strategy, business development, project management, Human Resources, finance and administration

  • Support country managers by establishing relationships with senior key local stakeholders, including customers, partners, and government agencies

  • Oversee the development and implementation of BLR processes to ensure efficient and effective company operations by territory.

  • Develop and implement business strategies that can be replicated across territories to align with the overall goals and objectives of The BLR Group

  • Lead, motivate and manage the management teams through the Country Manager to achieve and surpass business goals

  • Agree and monitor budgets and finances of each territory office, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively and efficiently and costs are monitored

  • Represent the company by serving as a senior figure for BLR-Global with a positive and professional manner

  • Be a Brand Champion of BLR at all times

Candidate Requirements

  • Experience of managing multiple business assets and managers

  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills

  • Strong business acumen

  • Able to work at macro and micro levels (with great detail)

  • Experience of working in the middle east and other international markets

  • Start-up experience would be beneficial

  • Ability to create, maintain and consolidate business reports at local and board level

  • Growing / developing business in an entrepreneurial environment

  • Experience or familiarity in the Culture, Events, Hospitality, Leisure or Tourism sectors

  • Arabic speaking preferred other languages advantageous

  • Able to travel internationally for short periods

  • Additional wider GCC / international experience would also be beneficial

Location & Commitments

  • Dubai (or GCC) -based, with regular national and international travel

  • Remote working available (to be agreed in advance)

  • Full-time, 5 days a week (flexibility on days according to project needs)

  • 9 hours a day, including a 1-hour lunch break
