ABOUT THE ROLE
The Artistic Director is the content authority for the festival, who will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations and delivery of creative programming, marketing and sales for the Festival including other aspects of producing an outdoor event. They will give leadership and direction to a dynamic team, develop a long-term strategy which meets the financial and artistic vision of the Festival; work closely with marketing and communications agencies on audience development, and ensure overall stability and sustainability.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Devise the plan that achieves the goals and objectives of the project and aligns with the Festival’s overall strategy, including defining the project’s scope and determining what resources are available, as well as how to monitor and report on the project’s progress.
Effectively manage the project budget to deliver on expectations. Make accurate estimates and monitor the actual spend as compared to the planned budget.
Manage issues and risks that will inevitably rise and work towards resolving problems quickly so they don’t take the project off track. Devise a plan of action to understand what risks may occur and a plan of action for mitigating or circumventing them.
Communicate with the project teams to make sure the project is progressing as planned, constantly measuring and comparing the metrics against the initial plan. Collate detailed information and data for reporting to the team and stakeholders as well as creating a store of information to be revisited for similar projects.
Qualifications
Over 18 years of experience with a degree or professional qualification
Knowledge
Critical thinking and problem solving
Excellent decision making and leadership capabilities.
Financial awareness, including budget management and procurement
Contract negotiation and tendering for services
Conflict resolution experience.
High level of proficiency in full MS Office suite
Proficiency in project management software tools or other software systems beneficial.
Experience
Significant experience as a project manager including demonstrable skills in prioritisation and planning.
A track record of delivering projects within the cultural sector, on time and within budget.
Experience of managing a range of projects, ideally including temporary exhibitions and international tours within a cultural organisation.
Experience of working with international projects and partners.
Ability to take ownership of the Noor Festival’s Delivery Approach, its implementation, establishment and development.
Experience of providing input to organisational business and budget planning.
Team management and coaching experience with the ability to manage and motivate multi- disciplinary teams in a matrix environment. This should include the ability to work in a developing environment and to institute new standards, working methods and practices that result in improved efficiency and effectiveness whilst maintaining morale and an enjoyable work environment for the team.
Capability to provide timely, accurate and relevant project reporting.
