The Project

In the words of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai “The future belongs to those who can imagine it, design it, and execute it. It isn’t something you await, but rather create”. The Museum of the Future is a public innovation initiative run by the Dubai Futures Foundation. The Foundation was incorporated in 2015 by the Prime Minister and Vice President of the United Arab Emirates, and is run under the leadership of Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The Museum will be a global exhibition space dedicated to showcasing emerging trends and technologies and discussing their implications and impacts on the world.

What we did

Barker Langham Recruitment were engaged by the Dubai Futures Foundation to support pre-opening recruitment needs of the Museum of the Future by conducting worldwide search and selection programs for positions such as the Executive Director and the Technical Director. This incorporated key phases for delivery, including: understanding the role; defining the profile required; determining Key Evaluation Criteria (KEC); identifying benchmark organisations; sourcing a longlist for consideration; recommending shortlists; coordinating interviews and facilitating the appointment and onboarding process.

The outcome

The Museum, which is currently under construction and planning to open in 2021, will be a showplace for a new era - a center of creativity and hope where visitors can see, touch and shape a shared future. Combining elements of exhibition, immersive theater and themed attraction, the Museum of the Future will invite visitors to look beyond the present and take their place within possible worlds to come. We appointed the Executive Director and conducted global search campaigns for other members of the corporate senior management team. As we are under a confidentiality agreement, further details of our work are currently restricted.
