Senior Curatorial Assistant

JOB PURPOSE

The Senior Curatorial Assistant will assist in the curation, project exhibitions, and research requirements within the collections for the modern and contemporary periods at the museum.

Main Roles and Responsibilities

  • Supports the Chief curator in conceiving and implementing the displays for the wing, including providing support in the management of rotations.

  • Supports the Preventative Conservation team on the weekly gallery overview of the permanent and temporary collections within the wing, ensuring follow-up arrangements in the event of potential technical and/or conservation requirements.

  • Develops and maintains the registration processes, including cataloging and record-keeping of the wing's collections, to ensure ease of access to the repository of information to answer applicable questions on the wing's collections and activities.

  • Researches, develops, and updates display labels, panels, and narrative information for the wing's collections and loans.

  • Follows up in the production of curatorial, marketing, educational, and cultural publications and exhibition-related materials, including, but not limited to, wall texts, extended object labels, and multimedia content.

  • Identifies the resources required to ensure that the curatorial processes and safeguards are appropriately performed and in line with health, safety, and quality standards of the wing's collection.

  • Leading public and private tours and educational workshops conducted on the wing's collections.

  • Contributes to preventative and curative conservation actions within the museum’s collections.

  • Continuous research into artifacts and collections of the modern and contemporary periods contributing to the knowledge, understanding, and techniques on current wing’s collections within the museum.

  • Supports the acquisition process following international standards.

  • Commits to and undertakes appropriate training to ensure continuous knowledge updates on the collections within the wing.
